PRIVATE AND SMALL GROUP MUSIC INSTRUCTION
You can pre-register for private and small group music instruction via WebSTAC. On WebSTAC, you will need to add the appropriate pre-registration course number and units of credit; 1.5 for half-hour lessons, and 3.0 for hour lessons. Please see the department of music website for full instructions including course numbers. Once you have pre-registered on WebSTAC you will be contacted by the department to set up your lesson.
Students wishing to take lessons for no credit should choose AUDIT for the grade option and then input 1.5 units for half-hour lessons and 3.0 units for hour lessons. Once you have pre-registered on WebSTAC you will be contacted by the department to set up your lesson.
You should pre-register early, no later than the first week of classes. Information regarding placement auditions or interviews, if required, can be found on the Music Department website.
Note: Only University College students may register for Applied Music under the U24 prefix. Day students must register under the L27 prefix.
FEES
Fees for private lessons are $300 for 14 weekly, half-hour lessons (credit, 1.5 units) and $600 for 14 weekly, one-hour lessons (credit, 3 units).
The fee for small group instruction (Flute Choir, Jazz Combos, Chamber Ensembles) is $135 for 14 weekly coaching sessions (credit, 1 unit).
Music majors receive a full rebate of fees for both music lessons and small group instruction. Non-music majors concurrently enrolled in Music Department ensembles as well as music minors receive a partial rebate of $80 for music lessons only. Need-based scholarship awards are available for those receiving financial assistance.
