Description:MedPrep II (Bio 2654) offers students a real world, behind-the-scenes experience of a life in medicine. For four hours every other week, students shadow physicians in the Charles F. Knight Emergency and Trauma Center of Barnes-Jewish Hospital, the main teaching hospital of the Washington University School of Medicine. In addition to shadowing, there is a required lecture every Wednesday from 5:00-5:50 pm. The first session on 5/25/22 is a mandatory 2-hour orientation session from 5:00-6:50 pm. Attendance at both hours is mandatory and excused absences will not be given for any reason, including illness or emergency. Successful completion of MedPrep I (Bio 2651), and rising-sophomore standing or above are required to take MedPrep II. A $25 course fee as well as HIPAA training and TB testing are required. Students will pre-register through the course website (medprep.wustl.edu), then add the course in WebSTAC where they will be placed on a waitlist until requirements are completed, then officially enrolled. Class attendance is required and new attendance policy is in effect that should be reviewed on the course website prior to enrolling in this course. A $25 course fee applies. Home/Ident

A course may be either a “Home” course or an “Ident” course.

A “Home” course is a course that is created, maintained and “owned” by one academic department (aka the “Home” department). The “Home” department is primarily responsible for the decision making and logistical support for the course and instructor.

An “Ident” course is the exact same course as the “Home” (i.e. same instructor, same class time, etc), but is simply being offered to students through another department for purposes of registering under a different department and course number.

Students should, whenever possible, register for their courses under the department number toward which they intend to count the course. For example, an AFAS major should register for the course "Africa: Peoples and Cultures" under its Ident number, L90 306B, whereas an Anthropology major should register for the same course under its Home number, L48 306B.
