01TBATBARosen, Fleckenstein, Clark, O'ReganNo Final0100
Desc:Remote/Synchronous. Infectious Disease Gateway: Translational and Public Health The ID Gateway exposes trainees in multiple programs to important translational questions and potential career paths in infectious disease. Speakers and discussions explore a broad range of topics relevant to infectious disease research and clinical care, including pathogenesis, diagnostics, biodefense, epidemiology, and development of therapeutics. All students are expected to attend and participate in each class scheduled. In addition to attending the course, you will be required to attend case conferences which will be held virtually this year. A student presentation is required and is scheduled toward the end of the course. Student Presentation Guidelines: 1. Pick an infectious disease from any of the various clinical exposures (lectures/discussions/case conferences) 2. Address one aspect of the clinical issues regarding this infection: is there a diagnostic dilemma? Are the treatment options too toxic, too broad or too few? Are there resistance issues? Enlighten us regarding the problem and approaches taken towards resolution (in the literature). 3. Presentation should be 15 minutes in length with 3-5 minutes for Q&A.

Home/Ident

A course may be either a “Home” course or an “Ident” course.

A “Home” course is a course that is created, maintained and “owned” by one academic department (aka the “Home” department). The “Home” department is primarily responsible for the decision making and logistical support for the course and instructor.

An “Ident” course is the exact same course as the “Home” (i.e. same instructor, same class time, etc), but is simply being offered to students through another department for purposes of registering under a different department and course number.

Students should, whenever possible, register for their courses under the department number toward which they intend to count the course. For example, an AFAS major should register for the course "Africa: Peoples and Cultures" under its Ident number, L90 306B, whereas an Anthropology major should register for the same course under its Home number, L48 306B.
